Frequently Asked Questions

Enrolments are accepted all year round, but the best time to enrol your child is at the beginning of the year (Term 1) - the year before your child is due to commence school.

Enrolment interviews are held in May. You will receive notification during Term 1 informing you of a time for you and your child to come in for an interview in early Term 2 with the school principal or designated delegate. Written offers of placement will follow in late Term 2.

For more information about the enrolment process at St Anthony’s, visit our Enrolment Information page.

Please see our Fees Information page for more information.

If you are experiencing financial hardship and are unable to pay fees, please discuss the situation with our principal. Your situation will be treated with care and confidentiality, and an appropriate arrangement may be made for you. No student will be refused enrolment because of a family’s genuine inability to pay fees.

There are many opportunities for your child to become involved in extra-curricular activities.  St Anthony's has representative teams in swimming, athletics, cross country, soccer, rugby league and netball.  Children also have the opportunity to qualify for Mackillop (Diocesan representative) teams in several different sports.  We have an environmental group and a Student Representative Council.

View our Co-Curricular activities here.

At St Anthony's we believe that all members of the community have the right to a learning and working environment free from intimidation, humiliation and harm. We all share a responsibility to create a culture of caring which will not tolerate bullying. We believe that bullying must be taken seriously and is not acceptable in any form. In witnessing Christian values we reject ideas, beliefs and behaviours, which marginalised or victimised people. The school has developed a comprehensive set of policies and procedures to manage allegations of bullying and harassment.

Please refer to the Catholic Education Diocese of Wollongong's Pastoral Care and Wellbeing Policy here.

You can also find further anti-bullying, wellbeing and online safety resources at our Resources page here.

The school canteen operates daily offering lunch and snack options.  We adhere to the NSW Healthy Canteen guide.  Children who wish to order lunch need to write their name, class and order on a paper bag with the money enclosed.

Orders are collected by the class teachers each morning and sent to the canteen.  We ask that children bring no more than $4 to school to spend at the canteen in addition to their lunch order.

St Anthony’s Parents & Friends Association runs a uniform shop for all our school’s uniform needs. The uniform shop is located in the school hall. Orders can be placed through the school office. These orders will be filled and sent home with your child. The uniform shop opens on Friday mornings between 9:10 am - 10:00 am.

For more information on the St Anthony's school uniform, visit our Uniform page.

Yes. St Anthony's offers before and after school care (OOHSC) each school day. The before school care service commences at 7am. The after school care service commences immediately after school until 6:30pm. OOHSC operates in our school hall.  OOSHC is operated on behalf of St Anthony's by CatholicCare. Bookings are essential. Some casual places are available upon request.

Find out more information about our Out Of School Hours (OOSH) Care services.

Parents are encouraged to become actively involved in their children’s education at St Anthony's. Ways you can help in your child’s classroom are listed above. Other ways of becoming involved are volunteering to help in the canteen, attending special days and events such as school liturgies or performances, helping at special events such as sporting carnivals, working bees, fundraising committees etc

Please note: Given our commitment to safeguarding children, volunteers will first need to organise a Working With Children Check (WWCC) – information and forms can be found on the CEDoW website

All parents and families are also invited to become involved with our Parents and Friends (P&F) Association, who work collaboratively with the school and parish about matters that affect your child at school, as well as general issues about school life including social events, fundraising and community building.

For more information, please visit our Parent Engagement page.

Yes, each grade will be different, but parents often participate and contribute in the classroom. This could include helping with reading and literacy programs, mathematics groups, technology, craft, or by offering expertise in a particular area of interest, such as Indigenous Education or Music.

You are most welcome! Please contact our office to make an appointment to meet with the principal and tour the school grounds and facilities.

Students are able to catch one of the Premier Illawarra school buses operating in Picton.

Note: The School Student Transport Scheme (SSTS) gives eligible school students free or subsidised travel between home and school on NSW public transport, including buses and trains. For more information and to apply for a school travel pass for your child, click here.

If you have a concern or would like to raise any issue regarding your child’s learning and wellbeing, our staff welcome the opportunity to speak with you about your child.

We ask that you contact your child’s classroom teacher in the first instance. The best way to do this is by:

  • phoning the school office and asking that your child's teacher return your call; or
  • contacting the teacher via email at XX to arrange a time to talk.

If the matter is urgent please contact the school office on (02) XX.

We ask for your patience in response to your request as schools are busy places and the main priority of staff is the education, safety and wellbeing of the students in their care during school hours. Requests by parents for information and meetings will be responded to as quickly as possible.
