Learning and Teaching

At Our Lady Help of Christians Parish School we provide quality Catholic learning and teaching in a climate of faith, love and learning

The Diocesan Learning and Teaching framework enables our teachers to ensure that quality Catholic learning takes place for all students. Learning programs provide opportunities for inquiry learning, problem solving and decision making, using twenty-first century pedagogy so that it is more meaningful, relevant and engaging in order to meet the diverse learning needs of all students.

The use of information technology tools ensures the engagement of our students. Some current initiatives include an ipod touch program in Kindergarten and Stage 1, Apple Mac computers in Stage 2, Lenovo laptops in Stage 3 and the use of Interactive Whiteboards across the school.

Our Lady Help of Christians School is registered by the NSW Board of Studies (BOS) and is subject to the curriculum requirements of the Board.  The new Australian Curriculum will most likely be implemented in 2013/14.

The Primary Curriculum is organised into Stages:

Early Stage 1 Kindergarten
Stage 1 Year 1 and Year 2
Stage 2 Year 3 and Year 4
Stage 3 Year 5 and Year 6

Most students will be working towards the outcomes for their Stage. Some students will be working towards outcomes that are above or below their Stage.
